Dear Maria,
I have finished reading the book M Is for Magic by Neil Gaiman. It is a short story book because I thought last week was short story. The stories I will be talking about is "The Price" and "Instructions".
"The Price" is about a person(The narrator. He writes I for the person.) owning some stray cats. He would take cats in and take care of them if they were in need. One day he found a black cat. He called it Black Cat. It seemed perfectly healthy. When he went on a trip and came back, he saw the black cat was scratched and bleeding. It had a torn ear and the bottom lip was torn and infected. He took it to the vet and took care of it. The next day the cat was hurt even more. He decided to put it in the basement. The day after that, he sent his daughter to a camp. The daughter was sending postcards to him to get her out. Many postcards will arrive at a day. Also, his son had a big fight with his best friend and now they would not talk. The man heard the cat pleading to get out the basement, so he let it out. He stayed awake to see what was hurting Black Cat. He waited all night and then he saw something after one of his cats got scared of something. He saw it was the Devil coming down the road. He was scared then the Black Cat got up not as powerful as it used to be, still fought the Devil. After a while the Devil ran away. The next day the persons daughter said she could survive a few more days in the camp, and his son said the he figured out the problem with his friend. The person never knew what the problem was. He thought about Black Cat. He selfishly and scared he wondered how much more it can give.
"Instruction" is about all the stories in the book in a four page(not front and back) poem.It is the last story. It is says go through a door a wooden gate you never saw before. Go through after saying please. If there is a creature and it is hungry, feed it, if it is dirty, clean it, if it is hurt, try to soothe it. Go on a path until you see a old lady under a tree. Give her what she wants. You will arrive at a castle with three princesses. Don't trust the youngest one. Next you will arrive at a meeting of the seasons. If you ask politely. December may give you strawberries in its frost. When you are done with this adventure, you will arrive where you started, but it will seem it much smaller. Then go home. Or make a home. Or rest. It is very touching if you read the book. Hope you enjoyed.

Dear Alexander,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog post! It was very detailed and informative! The stories really got my attention, especially "The Price." They were very interesting! I really want to read this short story!
I have a few questions to ask you!
What do you think the theme of the story "The Price" is?
Would you recommend "The Price"? And to who?
Did you enjoy reading the stories and think they were well thought?
Well, Nice Bog!
Sincerely,
Dore Dadon:)
Dear Alexander,
ReplyDeleteI like how the poem was about an adventure. I like adventures when I go airsofting. The part of dont trust the youngest is true even in regular life other than airsofting because they could betray you. Why is the short story two parts its suppose to be one part not several of them. The price story sounds weird. Isn't it racist that the guy named the black cat "Black Cat." What kind of devil was it was it the devil in the movie insidious or like taz from the looney toons? Hope you respond back

Dear Alexander,
ReplyDeleteYour blog post was very interesting. What made you want to read it? Would you read it again? It's very sad about the cat. I can't believe the devil would do it to the cat. Why did the devil attack the cat? I think that the cat was a fighter. Why did the cat fight though?
Sincerely,
Yafit
Dear Dore,
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think the theme of "The Price" is help something and you get something good back. Something like karma. I would recommend this book to anybody. It is very detailed and makes time go by fast. I enjoyed reading most of the stories in this book. In my opinion, one of them had some words that were not appropriate for school. Anyways, thanks for reading and commenting.

Dear Lucky,
ReplyDeleteThe short story is only one part. There are just two stories. I also agree that it is a little racist to call a black cat Black Cat. Lastly, the type of devil is like the ones you would talk about in religions. Thank you for reading and commenting.

Dear Yafit,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment! What made me read this book is the cover. It has a black cat on what looks like a brick wall with the moon in the background at night. I would not read the whole book again, but I would read the story.
I don't know why the Devil attacked the cat, maybe the cat was in disguised as a God. I think the cat fought maybe to protect its owner from harm like a dog would.
